Turnframe

Why Turnframe

Open models got good. Using them still means choosing.

You can run remarkable text, image and video models at home. But today's tools make you pick: a chat app or a media tool, easy or private, your desk or your phone. Turnframe is built so you don't have to.

The choices local AI makes you face

  • Chat or mediaTodayLocal chat apps talk but rarely make pictures, and almost never video. Media tools make pictures but don't hold a conversation.TurnframeAsk, draw, edit the picture you like, and turn it into video, all in the same conversation.
  • Friendly or powerfulTodayThe capable tools are node graphs and forms full of samplers, encoders and missing dependencies. Frontier apps made creating as simple as chatting; local tools mostly haven't.TurnframeA chat you already know how to use. Models install complete, and the screen stays the same whichever model you pick.
  • Guided or aloneTodayEvery model family wants different prompts and settings, and the answers are scattered across model cards and forum threads.TurnframeThe Agent reads each model's and style's documentation, keeps a dossier, and applies the settings its authors recommend. You review every suggestion.
  • Private or convenientTodayHosted apps keep your work on their servers. Local tools keep it on your disk, but most we checked store it as ordinary files anyone with access can open.TurnframeChats, images, video and memories are encrypted on disk. Set a password, and they can't be opened without it.
  • Desk or phoneTodayPhone links to a home computer exist, but most carry only text chat, stay on home Wi-Fi, or pass through someone else's network.TurnframeA phone app that reaches your own computer directly, encrypted and paired, and makes images and video, not just chat.
  • Popular or rightTodayModel hubs sort by downloads and likes. Fit-to-hardware badges tell you what will run, not what's good.TurnframeThe Turnframe score ranks models from Hugging Face, ModelScope and Civitai on quality for your task and fit for your machine.

Why the combination matters

Pieces of this exist elsewhere: a chat app with a phone link, an image tool with prompt expansion, a model browser with fit badges. What's been missing is having them together, so that the conversation, the media, the assistant, the encryption and the phone all belong to one app on your own computer.

And on the computer you have: Turnframe is coming to Mac, Windows and Linux.

Growing without getting harder

Most tools add a tab, a mode or a panel for every new capability, so each feature is one more place to learn. Turnframe grows the other way: new abilities arrive in the same conversation, and the Agent works out which tool a request needs. The app gets more capable without getting more complicated.

What it isn't

Turnframe isn't a Photoshop replacement or a node editor. Where a task is hard, the aim is for the Agent to handle it behind the scenes, not to add another panel of sliders.

It isn't a cloud service either. There's nothing to sign up for, no ads, no analytics, and nothing of yours to sell.
